colour references

The origin story of Claudia Caviezel's symphonic sense of colour begins in the fabric swatch collection she began when she was in school. They provide inspiration for new colourways, while the collection's sheer volume allows random swatches to rise and fall to provide inspiration at just the right moment.

Caviezel prefers the handle of fabric swatches over colour chips. Tactile colour references is something she shares with Vincent van Gogh who used colourful balls and strands of wool yarn to explore colour theory and to create his palettes. A fellow artist declared van Gogh's wools a “surprising symphony of colours”, a description that also applies to Caviezel's unique palettes.
