Throughout Caviezel's three-month Atelier Flex residency in Japan, her senses were flooded with new experiences. She painted these influences with Japanese ink in the washi paper squares of antique wood-framed shoji screens. Each square evokes a different sensation such as the Naruto whirlpools which she expressed with a mix of ink and bleach. Hanging freely like mobiles in her Clear Gallery Tokyo exhibition, the screens create a version of the Japanese concept of Shakkei (borrowed sceneries) while they represent Caviezel's _treasures of our trip_to Japan.
