Rex Cinema

Design of Wallpaper and Carpet

Claudia Caviezel collaborated with Holzer Kobler Architects on the design of the public areas of the Rex Cinema and its bar. Inspired by the elusive character of classic film noir, Caviezel borrowed the cinema's signature palette – black, white, red - to colour code her life size wall-based silhouettes created with friends and family who loaned their profiles to become actors in genres ranging from film noir to Disney. Spotlight projections highlight Caviezel's characters and her circle motif carpet so cinema goers can imagine themselves at a red carpet Hollywood opening as searchlight beams guide them into the spectacle of cinema.
