MOIRA is a capsule rug collection designed by Claudia Caviezel for SwissWool in collaboration with Lantal Textiles. Caviezel's designs reimagine the Rasterbild process of artist Sigmar Polke who appropriated the newspaper industry's system for building print images using thousands of tiny squares (also referred to as “dots”). Polke rejected the mechanical process in favour of hand producing his raster patterns, and similarly Caviezel expresses her designs using analogue and digital techniques. She and Lantal capitalised on the distinctive materiality of Swiss Valais Blacknose sheep wool. Lantal digitally printed her designs onto white SwissWool rugs using their Deep Dye technology. The richly saturated rugs express Caviezel's signature colours while the wool creates a unique fuzzy corona around each raster element. Milano Design Week | 7–13 April 2025 | fuorisalone.it
