Holzer Kobler Architects, curators of the Triennale, invited Claudia Caviezel to design a panoramic 7 x 12 meter wallpaper for the inaugural Beijing International Design Triennial. Caviezel created a fantasy nature theme as a metaphor for diversity, and as her interpretation of the exhibition's theme Good Guys. Flowers and plants grow amidst patterns Caviezel borrowed from historic Swiss lace and textiles. Her animal panoply range from delicate butterflies pinned against lace clouds to exotic jungle animals who prowl the jungle floor. This fantastical scenography is enhanced by iridescent colour shifts created by bonding her digital print to holographic foil produced with Caviezel's production partner, Swiss-based luxury textile company Jakob Schlaepfer AG.
